We've revived and updated a classic dating back the the 17th century with our recipe for a chocolate porter flip. Serve this hot or cold.
Choco Rum Flip
A delightful and creamy blend of chocolate porter, dark rum, sugar syrup, and egg, served either hot or cold, with a hint of nutmeg.
Ingredients
- 1.70 oz Meantime chocolate porter
- 1.20 oz dark rum
- 0.50 oz sugar syrup
- 1 egg
- Grated nutmeg for serving
Instructions
- For a cold serving, add all ingredients (except nutmeg) to a shaker and shake without ice to mix and aerate the egg.
- Add ice to the shaker and shake vigorously for 10-15 seconds.
- Strain into a glass with a few ice cubes, if desired, and grate nutmeg over the top.
- For a hot serving, combine all ingredients (except nutmeg) in a pan and heat gently, whisking until warmed through. Do not overheat to avoid scrambling the egg.
- Pour into a glass and grate nutmeg over the top.
