Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups strawberries (de-stemmed and quartered)
  • 2 tablespoons sugar (more if you like a sweeter cocktail)
  • 3 tablespoons water
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice (freshly squeezed)
  • 3 oz. vodka
  • 1 lemon wedge
  • Ice

Instructions

  1. Prepare the simple syrup by simmering the strawberries, sugar, and water in a saucepan until the strawberries break apart.
  2. Strain the simple syrup through a fine mesh sieve, pressing the pulp to extract as much liquid as possible, and then chill the juice.
  3. Squeeze about 1/4 cup of fresh lemon juice using a citrus press.
  4. Combine the strained strawberry juice, fresh lemon juice, and vodka in a carafe or pitcher, and add a lemon wedge if desired.
