Ingredients

  • 1 lemon
  • 1 cup vodka
  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 1/3 cup water

Instructions

  1. Zest the lemon and place the zest into a large glass jar.
  2. Pour the vodka into the jar, cover it loosely, and let it infuse for 1 week at room temperature.
  3. After 1 week, combine the sugar and water in a medium saucepan and bring it to a boil without stirring. Boil for 15 minutes and then let the syrup cool to room temperature.
  4. Stir the vodka mixture into the syrup and strain it into a glass bottle. Seal the bottle with a cork and let it age at room temperature for 2 weeks.
  5. Store the bottled limoncello in the freezer until icy cold.
  6. Serve in chilled vodka glasses or shot glasses.
